Overview
Environmental harm is rarely invisible. It leaves traces — in satellite imagery, in soil composition, in the testimony of people who live beside it. What makes it invisible is the institutional architecture designed to not record it: monitoring stations placed where they will not register anomalies, reporting protocols that exclude community testimony, administrative categories that predetermine what can be seen.
Data Silence is not the absence of data. It is the structured production of that absence.
The Forensic Environmental Simulation Protocol (FESP) is a methodology developed by Nexus Points Doc to make Data Silence visible in three dimensions and in real time. By integrating satellite imagery, open-source environmental data, and authenticated community testimony into navigable Unreal Engine environments, FESP transforms abstract institutional gaps into forensic evidence — legible to courts, regulatory bodies, investigative journalists, and policymakers.
The Problem
Environmental forensics currently operates in two disconnected registers. Satellite data is processed as flat imagery — informative but not experiential. Community testimony is collected as text or audio — powerful but institutionally invisible. The gap between them is precisely where Data Silence lives.
No existing methodology brings these two registers into a shared environment where their divergence can be seen, measured, and demonstrated. A monitoring station that records nothing while satellite imagery shows anomalous heat signatures and a community witness describes dead livestock — these three data points exist in three different institutional worlds. FESP puts them in one room.
The Methodology
Three integrated layers:
Satellite Data Environment
Sentinel-2 and Planet Labs imagery is processed and georeferenced into a navigable 3D terrain. Historical archives allow temporal traversal — moving through time to observe environmental change at specific locations. Industrial heat signatures, vegetation stress indices, and surface anomalies are rendered as visible data layers.
Ground-Level Testimony Integration
Authenticated community testimony, collected through the Satellite Testimony protocol, is geo-tagged and embedded into the 3D environment. Witnesses speak from the locations where they observed harm — their accounts placed in spatial relationship to the satellite record at the same coordinates and time periods.
Institutional Record Comparison
Official monitoring data — air quality station readings, environmental impact assessments, regulatory compliance reports — is overlaid against the satellite and testimony layers. Where the institutional record diverges from independent evidence, the gap is rendered visible and measurable. This is Data Silence, made three-dimensional.

A FESP environment is not a visualization. It is a forensic instrument. Each environment produces:
Evidentiary packages — SHA-signed, chain-of-custody authenticated, structured for legal admissibility in environmental courts and regulatory proceedings.
Policy demonstration environments — navigable 3D spaces for presenting forensic findings to municipal governments, parliamentary committees, and international bodies.
Training simulations — structured field preparation environments for Youth Sentinels Global Fellowship researchers deploying across the Amazon, Nile Delta, Ganges, and Sakarya basins.
Journalistic assets — interactive visual documentation for investigative reporting where data visualization alone is insufficient to communicate structural environmental harm.

Pilot
The FESP pilot is being developed in the Sakarya River Basin, Turkey — Nexus Points Doc's primary active field site. The Sakarya environment provides the methodology's most demanding test case: a dense industrial corridor with documented divergence between satellite evidence and official monitoring records, active community testimony collection, and a longitudinal satellite archive extending multiple years.
The pilot environment is being built in Unreal Engine 5, with satellite data integration from Sentinel-2 and Planet Labs, EMI data layers, and Satellite Testimony evidence packages from the Sakarya fieldwork.
FESP has been developed in conjunction with the Environmental Mobility Index and Satellite Testimony — the three methodologies constitute Nexus Points Doc's integrated forensic infrastructure.
