Why This Matters
Most companies in sustainability-forward sectors retreat from their commitments when economic conditions tighten, citing market pressure as justification. Proof of Work tests that excuse directly — verifying, independently and on the ground, whether an organisation's claims hold up. If they do, the volume becomes a reference case for the entire sector. If they don't, that's documented too. To our knowledge, nothing at this scale — eight independent forensic investigations, across eight organisations and sectors, compiled into a single published reference work — has been attempted before.
